MIIS 2021 International Workshop On Mathematical Issues In Information Sciences 数据科学国际研讨会
18th-19th December 2021

MIIS 2021 will take place from December 18th to December 19th, 2021, co-hosted by Shenzhen Research Institute of Big Data, Shenzhen Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for Society, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Science and Technology on Communication Information Security Control Laboratory, Shenzhen International Center for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and The Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Big Data Computing, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. Participants will exchange and share the ideas of using mathematics, especially the latest computing technologies, to model and solve practical issues in the area of data science, information science, big data analytics, and artificial intelligence.

Jointly organized by:

Shenzhen Research Institute of Big Data (SRIBD) was established in March 2016 by the Shenzhen government to lead and coordinate the research and development of big data related innovation in Shenzhen. The institute’s initial funding is through the Shenzhen Peacock project on “Big Data Information Processing and Application”, led by the institute’s founding director Prof. Zhi-Quan Luo of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen).

Established in Shenzhen, one of the most dynamic and rapidly developing cities in the world, Shenzhen Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for Society (AIRS) is an institute for fundamental and applied researches in artificial intelligence and robotics (AIR). The main contributor of AIRS is The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, with collaboration with worldwide top institutions in AIR. It aims to create a brand new mode, combining top university resources, international collaborations, industrial demands, investment support, and incubation motivations, etc.

Founded in 1987, Huawei is a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices. We have approximately 197,000 employees and we operate in over 170 countries and regions, serving more than three billion people around the world. Huawei’s mission is to bring digital to every person, home and organization for a fully connected, intelligent world; to drive ubiquitous connectivity and promote equal access to networks to lay the foundation for the intelligent world; and to redefine user experience with AI, offering consumers more personalized and intelligent experiences across all scenarios.

Science and Technology on Communication Information Security Control Laboratory is a government-sponsored laboratory engaged in communication information security control technologies fundamental research and application research. The overall science and technology research level of the laboratory reaches domestically advanced, some of which reaches internationally advanced. Led by academician of the China Academy of Engineering (CAE) Yang Xiaoniu, a team dedicated in communication information security control technologies is established, the members of which commit themselves to the fundamental and innovation research and have gained great achievements.

Shenzhen International Center for Industrial and Applied Mathematics was established in September 2021. It aims at key problems in the innovation of digital economy industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, focusing on three fundamental research areas: mathematical theories of artificial intelligence, development of intelligent industrial software, and innovative applications of artificial intelligence and applied mathematics. It aims to build a world-class and international center for research in applied mathematics.

The Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Big Data Computing is located in The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen), established in 2021 and led by Prof. Zhi-Quan Luo. The Provincial Key Lab is affiliated with more than 30 professors and focuses on researches on big data computing theorems and methods for future wireless networks and biomedical applications.

CUHK-Shenzhen was founded in accordance with the Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Chinese-foreign Cooperation in Running Schools upon approval by the Ministry of Education. The University is committed to providing top-quality higher education that features an integration of the East and the West and fostering an enriching research environment. It is CUHK-Shenzhen’s mission to cultivate innovative talents with a global perspective, Chinese cultural traditions and social responsibilities.
